Blueline Consulting

Our Projects

For numerous years, Blueline Consulting has been actively engaged in various community projects. Our extensive portfolio of diverse projects has not only enhanced our expertise but also elevated the quality of services we offer to our valued clients.

Here are a few noteworthy projects we take pride in:

Blueline designed a 20-30m diameter oval roundabout on Wairakei Drive to improve safety at a historically high-crash intersection. Replacing the existing staggered T-intersections, the project involved transportation planning, SIDRA traffic modeling, safety analysis, and close collaboration with the council and stakeholders. Our team conducted geotechnical investigations, geometric and drainage design, utility realignments, and street lighting improvements while coordinating with Davinci Transportation Planning and DWEENG Electrical to meet all design requirements. Throughout construction, Blueline provided contract administration and quality assurance (QA) inspections, ensuring a smooth and successful project delivery.

Blueline Consulting is working closely with Taupo District Council to improve accessibility and safety within the local transport network. Based on public feedback and internal audits, we have designed and implemented key interventions, including new pedestrian crossings, footpath extensions, and intersection upgrades. A notable project involved the design and installation of a new crossing and footpath on Rifle Range Road. While construction oversight was managed by TR Construction, Blueline led all design aspects, navigating a unique design-build approach where the contractor was pre-selected before our involvement. This required strategic planning to meet tight deadlines while ensuring the project aligned with both contractor requirements and community needs. By addressing safety concerns on this busy roadway, the project enhances pedestrian safety and improves overall accessibility across Taupo.

Blueline was engaged by Taupo District Council to design upgrades for two existing and five new above-ground hydrant fill stations across the district. The project aimed to streamline water cart filling operations and improve metered water management from the public network. Working closely with TDC, we developed infrastructure to accommodate electronic valves and meters, overcoming challenges such as discrepancies in as-built records and proximity to high-voltage infrastructure, which required multiple site design iterations. Some locations also incorporated off-road parking or paved facilities to ensure safe access for large vehicles without disrupting public use. Blueline managed the project’s design and documentation, delivering it on time and within budget despite modifications along the way. The upgrades enhance efficiency for tanker truck filling, improve billing accuracy for TDC, and simplify maintenance with the introduction of above-ground valves.

Blueline was engaged by Apex Civil and Rotorua Lakes Council to provide detailed design services and design clarifications during construction. The project aimed to enhance safety and functionality by separating boat ramp users from recreational pedestrians along the lakefront and café area. Key upgrades included reconfiguring the car park layout with dedicated boat trailer parking, constructing a concrete vehicle table to improve access between the café and lakefront, relocating the existing precast-slab boat ramp, rebuilding the timber jetty and boardwalk, upgrading the grouted rock wall, and improving site drainage and spring water management. Additionally, under a separate contract with Rotorua Lakes Council, Blueline designed and oversaw the installation of a recreational floating pontoon, including the anchoring system design and installation signoff, working closely with commercial divers for installation and underwater inspections.

Blueline partnered with Taupo District Council to design and oversee the construction of a 10km, 2.8m-wide shared pathway along the East Taupo Arterial (ETA), connecting communities from the Memorial Drive roundabout to Centennial Drive. Close collaboration with TDC and NZTA ensured compliance with all regulations and standards. Despite challenges posed by COVID-19, including fluctuating material costs and contractor labor shortages, Blueline remained proactive, making strategic adjustments to keep the project on schedule and within budget while minimizing financial variances.

Blueline has successfully completed multiple water renewal projects across Taupo, ensuring the reliable delivery of clean water to the community. These projects involved upgrading aging infrastructure, replacing pipelines, and improving water distribution networks to enhance efficiency and reduce maintenance requirements. Working closely with Taupo District Council, we navigated challenges such as minimizing disruptions to residents and businesses while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Through careful planning, innovative design solutions, and effective project management, Blueline has contributed to a more resilient and sustainable water network for Taupo’s growing population.

Blueline was engaged to design and oversee critical infrastructure repairs after a geothermal event caused significant damage to a public roadway and park grounds in Kuirau Park, Rotorua. Our work included realigning the roadway with a single-lane, give-way priority design, new curbs, and street lighting to improve safety. We also extended the pedestrian pathway and installed a new pram crossing for better accessibility. Additionally, at the request of Rotorua Council, we designed and developed a new parking area at the Tawera Road entrance, including kerb realignment, pedestrian access, line marking, and full project management. With a focus on innovation, safety, and sustainability, Blueline Consulting successfully restored and enhanced Kuirau Park’s infrastructure.

Blueline Consulting was engaged to design and manage the construction of a carpark extension in Whakapapa Village to support increased visitor demand and improve public access. This project involved the full civil design of the extended parking area, including stormwater management, pavement design, line marking, and accessibility features. Blueline provided project management services, from initial site assessments and concept design through to construction oversight and final completion.
